I have had the opportunity in the past to work with the talented photographer Brigitte Sire on shoot I art directed for DVS shoes company. It was an amazing day in Santa Monica and for some reason I have always really loved this picture. Her work is truly amazing as you can see from her portfolio website.

Inspired by luxe candles that I have recently seen at all my favorite boutiques, I decided to make my own at a fraction of the cost. The first photo are of odds and ends I picked up from the Goodwill for $3-$5. I knew you could buy candle making kits, so I went to Michael's Craft store and saw that they have a whole isle dedicated to such a thing. I thought it was going to be super messy and dangerous working with all that hot wax. Not until I saw a soy wax kit in which you microwave the wax ($12 for 1 lb. of wax). Thats it! Thats all! Melt the wax in the microwave and pour into your desired holders. Take that $60 candle!

This is a fantastic example of seeing the potential in things. This couch was abandoned, so my best friend rescued this mid-century couch of a jem and had it recovered. It now has a new look and a new home. In addition to the couch, here are some other inspiring looks in her new downtown loft.

On 10/10/09 Merryland Creative got the opportunity to help personalize some finishing touches to Katie and Chad's incredible wedding. The location was Newport Beach California and it did not lack in inspiration for a classic nautical themed event. With a custom logo, menu, table numbers, table favors, cups, and napkins, the newly Mr. and Mrs. Olberding had a day they would never forget!!!

I've been working on a couple projects recently for a French lingerie line and have had all things French on the brain lately. I love this country french room and its simple elegance I found on Genuine Style.
